Calling admissions about application when on waitlist?

Hey guys! I am curruently on the waitlist at 2 schools. Does it help/hurt you to call the admissions office to ask them about your application? I feel like it could show them that you are still extremely interested in their (which I am!). However I do not want to come off as annoying and hurt my chances of being accepted. Any feedback is appreciated!

The admissions director at the school I interviewed told us not to call the admissions office. He said everyone will be ranked based on interview and stats. Nothing you say will change that ranking. So, I think its best to be patient and see what happens.

Oh wait, you do, 1+ year of your life and at least $3-4k reapplying for this upcoming cycle.

I always remember the old adage "the squeeky wheel gets the grease". IMO call, it keeps you on their mind, maybe you'll get something of it?

Sorry to revive a dead thread - I'm on the waitlist for my top choices now (NYU and brown) and heard calling could be a good option since they both have unranked waitlists. But who do I ask for and what do I say? Thank you!

This might be a wrong thread if you're referring to Brown Medicine? But I'm sure dental and med school admissions process are pretty similar and you might call and ask if there had been any new changes to the status of your application
