Hi,
I am trying to assess my competitiveness for the Creighton Distance program for Fall 2010. Right now I have a PCAT composite of 77, and I'm sure my science GPA will be around 3.2, overall GPA around 3.4-3.6...I have clinical research experience, lots of community service, and interesting work experiences in the area of public health.

Would you all mind sharing your stats for those who are enrolled in the program or just got admitted? Any words of advice for me would be appreciated!

I haven't been admitted or even interviewed but from what I've gathered from SDN, you'd be a competitive applicant. Creighton doesn't just look at numbers but rather the applicant as a whole (they want a well rounded applicant). I'll most likely be joining you in the 2010 application process!

I think they also look at the reason why you are interested in or need a distance program. Your stats are pretty average, but they do look for well-rounded applicants and if you have a lot of community service, that will help there. Do you have any pharmacy tech experience?

I just got accepted to the program and my stats are about the same as yours - 3.5 GPA, 3.3 science GPA and an 82 on the PCAT. I didn't have any volunteer experience, but I have worked on the administrative side of healthcare for about 10 years and I have a degree in accounting. I got my accounting degree through another distance program and I have worked from home as a medical auditor for three years so I think that helped show them that I can handle a distance program. As someone else mentioned, they are really interested in why you want the distance pathway, and they want to make sure you can handle it. Since I work full time already, I took on a tech job just to try it out and I only worked there for six months, then I moved to another city. They didn't seem to mind that I didn't have a lot of tech experience. Hope that helps! Good luck!🙂

Thanks for the info. I don't have any tech experience (I think another poster asked that), but I do have lots of experience in terms of online learning. I have taken online courses in psychology and in some other areas, AND I teach online part-time, too. I have several motivations in staying where I am--I want to be close to my parents since my mother has breast cancer, and my dad's health isn't doing too well these days (initial stages of kidney failure). So I would really like to stay close to them for support. Also, I have an opportunity to continue to work very, very minimally (part-time/research assistant work) in pharmacy where I currently am located...
