Hi guys! 🙂

Do we have to wear business attire for all 3 days of orientation, or just the first?

And, does anyone know what our day to day schedule will be like? I heard we have afternoon classes..is that true?

hey dra foxy, did you get your financial aid package yet? i haven't heard a thing, but then again i just submitted about two weeks ago.

oh no, i take it back! i followed some links from the calendar and i now have a million scary pages to read about all the first year schedules and grading and reading and assignments!

You guys wear lab coats only after your second year?!!😱 What do you wear in your first and second years when you are seeing patients? Just regular professional clothing? At Miami, we will be seeing our first patients in a month, and we are required to wear the long lab coats (the one's the doctors wear😎 ). I thought every medical school requires that their students wear some sort of lab coat when seeing patients.

Anyway, hope you guys have fun at orientation next week and have cool classmates like the ones I currently have.🙂

i was wondering the same thing about the coats...maybe they're not white for first and second years?? although i've never seen people walking around in pink or yellow coats.

has anyone heard from any second years what books we really need to buy? or is everyone just going to wait until orientation to decide? or are you buying all of them? 😕 i guess i won't worry about it til i can talk to some second years, but i just like to plan ahead. let me know if you've heard anything!

oh, and dra. foxy, i think we just have to dress up for the first day of orientation, but i'm not positive either.

leila2: I didn't get my FA package in the mail yet, but I called Eileen at the FA office and she told me everything over the phone. It should be mailed soon!

Also, I'm pretty sure we just have o dress up for the first day only, since we're taking a class picture that day. That night is the AMA dinner thing, so we'll have to be in business attire for that anyway. 😉

Have you guys been getting all those emails? We're gonna be busy from morning til night during orientation. Wed is the AMA dinner, Thursday is the Equal Access Clinic and then an AMSA banquet or something like that. Crazy! My family's coming with me to move in and I won't even get to spend time with them. 🙁 I think once orientation is over, we'll be able to relax when classes start! 😉

I think we just dress nicely for the first 2 years around patients, but I know after 2nd year we also get long coats like the doctors wear. 😉

hey class of 2006! so i've got some beef with you guys. what happened last night? my roomie and i were chillin at the swamp for a few hours. . .going up to random tables and asking if they were ms1ers. yeah we definitely got some strange looks! oh well, at least we made a lot of new drunken friends .
so do y'all want to try this get together thing for real tonight? i'm telling you, there's nothing better than having a few drinks outside the swamp on these beautiful florida nights.
so if you're interested, respond or email me. my roomie and i are definitely going to be going out. . .probably the swamp. . .probably around 9:30ish.
come on now. . .a girl can only be stood up so many times🙂

Hey, I was there last night as well. Hung out by the entrance, had a couple of beers, and left. You guys must have talked to the wrong drunk people. And I even wore by red and blue Fisher-Price toy stethoscope too so you all could spot me. Oh well.

OK, then--tonite, 9:30? Yeah, I should be up by then. Meet by the entrance? Although I do like the idea of wandering table to table: "Hey, I'm in med school, are YOU?"

i'm so sorry we missed you. . .but look forward to tonight. i think that it is best to say to meet upstairs inside where there is a little look over area and bar stools. we've noticed that there normally isn't anyone hanging out there so it would be easier to spot each other. any other ms1ers/2ers in town should definitely swing by!

Sorry I wasn't able to make it last night! But Dr. Drew, I do have good news for you. When I was in gville (i'm not there now so I won't be meeting you tonight), I saw the simpsons. I don't remember what channel or time though! 🙂

Sorry I missed drinks at the Swamp! I was out of town, but I'm sure we'll have plenty more opportunities as the year progresses. One more day of freedom left! Anyhow, to assuage your fears, the Simpsons is on twice during the week, once early (6 or 6:30), and once at 11. It's on channel 13 if you have cable, and 51 ( I think) if you don't. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday. I'll be the one wearing the suit; oh wait, so will everyone else... maybe you'll just have to guess😉 . But you already know my first name so that should be a good clue! Enjoy your last day off! Take it easy.
