How do students fare in specializing here? I have a friend not on sdn that wants to go into omfs. He's trying to compare here versus UPENN with UDM being about 80k cheaper over the 4 yrs!
I don't know how many times it's been said on here already: if you're not going to dental school with the mindset that you're most likely going to work in general dentistry, don't bother going at all. Omfs residencies are ridiculously hard to get, and it's naive to say that you're going to go into it without even having started dental school yet
That being said, it doesnt matter which school has more students who specialize..going to a school that's $80k more expensive just because it puts out more specialists is insanely stupid
It's been repeated 1000 times. I'm not asking for a debate. How many students applied and how many matched. That's it. If you can't answer that, than please don't respond.
Like I said, it doesnt matter in the end. If you're a highly competitive student regardless of where you go, you'll be able to find a way to match somewhere. Spending an extra 80k just for the "ivy league" school that might match a bit more omfs is not a smart choice.

The information you're asking for reinforces the same argument of "don't bother applying OOS because of low acceptances" which I don't believe is sound reasoning. If you're competitive, you'll get in. Bottom line.
ADEA does not post residency acceptance rates in their official dental school guide, but I wish they did so this speculation could be put to rest. Without seeing actual numbers, I have my own doubts on whether or not the rate of specialty acceptance by dental school is entirely anecdotal.
