Campbell or UNC Interviews?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
haha that was probably the one i stumbled over the most too but i think i was able to recover from it. i dont really remember exactly what i said but i did say that pulling away from population based medicine was a challenge for pharmacy as a profession and how we need to do more research is pharmacogenomics etc. something along those lines. it was the first thing i could come up with but i know if i did more research i could have came up with a better answer. unc is really big on research so maybe my answer was acceptable haha
Haha I think I know why I didn't get my acceptance yet! I said staying current may be challenging for rural area pharmacists which has nothing to do with the profession as a whole. Oh my, oh my...

it's okay, for one of my questions, "what makes a good healthcare professional/pharmacist" , it was such an easy question, but for some reason I only said like 2 things and then randomly blanked, and was like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't know anymore, sorryyy.....................
it was kind of bad...
but they still took me anyway! 😀

umm I think my mess-up was way worse than yours... 😛

Hey PharmOl,

I'll be at the Campbell interview on March 18th too! I'm soooo excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck w/both schools!🙂

You as well! Is that your first interview?

your answer actually wasnt a bad one. when i interviewed at maryland, they were saying how getting pharmacists to even practice in rural areas has been a challenge. then we all had to come up with ways to make pharmacists want to practice there. so, i think your answer is plausible. believe me, there are way worse answers that you could have said! noone is perfect and chances are your acceptance will not be determined soley on that one answer! 👍

Haha awkward! I stared into the blue for a minute there, too. I've never been that blank before in my life!

Congratulations to everyone accepted into the upcoming classes of 2014! I was recently accepted to UNC's PharmD program myself. I have an interview for March 18th at Campbell, but I'm honestly considering forfeiting my interview seat for another deserving applicant. UNC is the place for me! 😀 Everyone else, keep your heads up!

That would be a considerate thing to do. If I got accepted into UNC, I wouldn't even bother going to Campbell. Good work, I'm excited for you! Hopefully, see you in the fall! :xf:

You're right, it would be. I believe I'll drop by the admissions office in the morning and confirm that with them. It's exciting to be changing colors from Campbell's orange to blue though, it's a much happier color haha. Good luck to you and I hope I'll see you then as well. I'm looking forward to a great class!

has anyone that was accepted to unc on 2/25 received their acceptance packet yet?

Nothing in my mailbox as of yet either. They said 5-7 business days, so worst case they will mail it on Monday and we'll see it during Spring Break next week.

For those of you who have gotten either accepted or offered interviews at UNC will you please share your stats (GPA and PCAT). Thanks.

GPA: 3.6 in Pharmaceutical Sciences major (not easy) - I took the PCAT once.. 65 Composite. I got interviews everywhere that I applied, but this may have been to other aspects of my application (male, well rounded, community service, leadership in conferences & Eagle Scout, etc). It goes to show that if you have passion for your career then you dont necessarily have to ace the PCAT to get accepted at your top schools!

3.28 GPA (obviously not so hot...) 91% PCAT. ditto to what JFletcherNC said, only change 'ace the PCAT' to 'ace your classes', haha.

I'm so excited for everyone who got in, guys! Must be the best feeling! Have a great spring break!

Do you all feel like male applicants at UNC have a significant advantage?

Applied with a 3.58 at UNC...took all my pre-reqs (except two labs) in 2 years, 3.2ish science/math GPA w/ C's in organic.

92% PCAT composite, but I got like 65% or something ridiculous on the chem section and a 98% on bio. Clearly they don't really look at subscores. haha

Involved in basically every pre-pharmacy organization I could find, volunteer work, and leadership in my dormitory learning-community.

Sarajevo, I wouldn't say that male applicants have a significant advantage, but they are up against a little less competition. According to last years admission statistics, UNC admitted 1 male for every 3 females (25:75). In my opinion, a female would have to stand out among many more applications than a male would. The bottom line is that you still have to stand out in order to make it into a professional program no matter if you're male or female. Anyway, I hope you all have a great spring break!

I got an email that said they just mailed them on Friday, March 5th. So maybe we'll see them today or tomorrow..

Final interview date is scheduled for March 19th. There will be two sessions.

Damnit i'm so anxious. I interviewed back in feb, got a 92 composite on PCAT, 3.6 GPA in biochemistry, and felt my LOR's and application overall was strong...average at worst, same with the interview. All i've gotten so far is the "we havent made a final decision"

After interviewing at my other schools, UNC is the only place i really want to go.

so nervous 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

for anyone who was accepted to unc on 2/25 and has recently received their acceptance packet can you please let me know when the deposit is due and how much it is? i am on spring break and can't check my mailbox at school!! thanks!

Hi appalpharm,

The deposit is $200.00 dollars and is due by March 22. Hope this helps.

Does anyone here know of any candidates that interviewed at UNC for the fall that have been rejected? I interviewed on 2/26 and the wait along with having no control on the outcomes anymore have been killing me.

I can't say for sure, but I don't think they're rejecting anyone until they fill the class ... so if you interviewed, you're still going to be in the pool that they can possibly accept from... and then after they fill the class, *then* they will probably send out rejections/waitlists

Oh no, this is depressing! I thought they accept and reject some after each interview session. Although, I haven't seen anybody being rejected yet...

divinevalley is right. After the next interview in March, they'll assign some to the waitlist and go from there. If I had to guess, you promising applicants still have a good shot! 🙂
On another note, I still haven't gotten my packet. So it's either A)in my campus P.O. Box or B)On its way, still.. Haha. :xf:

Out of curiousity, should the people of interviewed on Feb 26th expect answers today if accepted? If it follows suite with previous interview sessions I would think it would be today or monday. I hope today because if not it will be a LONG weekend.

I was just wondering if anyone that interviewed Feb 26th had heard anything yet as well. Hope to find out something soon...

I was at the interview on the 26th, and no, I have not heard anything. Did just get accepted to Maryland on Monday. Got accepted at UF about 5 days after the interview. UNC is #1!

well anyone? or are we waiting til monday?

yeah I go to UNC and I'm on spring break now... last day of break today *sniff*
maybe you guys will hear back tomorrow. =]

last 2 interview sessions for UNC are March 19 as a heads up. Good luck you guys. 🙂

Male applicants definitely have an advantage. I wanted to do pharmacy since my sophomore year of college; applied for the year following graduation and was waitlisted. Applied again the next year, along with my male friend who I love dearly but had only decided to do pharmacy 3 months prior (I'm over it now), had interviews on the same day, same session; he got an acceptance after ONE WEEK...and I had to wait 3 months to find I had to go to their satellite campus in EC 2.5 hours from home. I'm not bitter, I swear!

eighthchord, were you and your male friends' statistics comparable or was there a significant enough difference to rule out gender being the only mitigating factor?

For anyone accepted to UNC, does it come in the form of a letter in the mail or an e-mail? I interviewed 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything, but like you guys said, they were on spring break. Hoping to get an acceptance letter and avoid the $800 deposit at Univ of Maryland due on Friday, but what can ya do...

You get an email first. Sometimes it takes longer than 2 weeks for them to make a decision. They send a packet in the mail about a week later. Good luck and congrats on Maryland.

I haven't heard anything as of yet. Has anyone who interviewed on Feb. 26?

Still nothing from the Feb 26th interview for me either...and thanks for the info Pharmacy Dreams

On another note, to try to distract us from this waiting game, does anyone know much about VCU? I applied to Maryland, Florida, UNC, and VCU, and since VCU is quite a bit lower on the rankings, I figured it was my safety school. I got a 97 on the PCAT, 3.86 GPA w/ a major in Horticulture and Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology, a few graduate genetics and biochem classes w/ good grades, and I wasn't even invited to interview...I was interviewed at the other 3, already accepted to UMd and UF, obviously waiting on UNC...it just seemed weird to me...
