Campbell or UNC Interviews?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
luckybird,
I received an interview invite for the dec. 2nd date, but I couldn't make it. They told me the next interview date will be scheduled for sometime in January.

Thank you, jjfree. Please let us know when you get the information for Jan interview.

Hi,

My stats are 4.0 GPA, 85 composite PCAT, 1 year of research experience, 3 months as a CVS pharmacy technician (full time) --->will be 1 year by the time I start pharm school, hospital pharmacy volunteer (10 hrs per week).

Does anyone think that I should retake the PCAT?

Is the PCAT the reason I haven't received an interview from UNC yet?

I have received a Campbell and USC interview though.

Thanks

You do not need to retake the PCAT, your stats are fine. They can only interview a certain amount of people in a session. I would not panic, be patient, you should get an interview.

I got invited for an interview at campbell for 1/14. Does anyone have any advice? What types of questions they ask, if there is a writing portion, etc?

Thanks!

I also could not make it to the dec 2nd interview, but they emailed me today... and their next interview date is on jan 6th =)

same! i couldn't make the dec 2nd but am definitely going to the jan 6

Hey Desmoulins,
I rescheduled my campbell interview to Jan 14, so I'm trying to figure the best way to get to Campbell. I know your from Buffalo too, are you driving or flying to NC? I'm trying to find the cheapest/most efficient route (these interviews are expensive)? Any advice for what you are doing/did would be helpful!

I couldn't make it to the 12/2 one either, but got the jan 6th invite too! It's my first day of classes, but there's no way I'm missing it.

I flew there and back in one day (without a hotel). I sent you a PM

Edit...erm...I thought you were interviewing at UNC and realized I sent you a message all about UNC. I did not apply to Campbell and have no clue where it is. So... sorry about that lol

Received an email from student services assistant at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy with info regarding prereq, transit, tuition. I interviewed on 12/2. Does everyone receive this after interviewing as a courtesy follow-up, or could this be a sign????

Hello,

For those who had already interviewed at Campbell, was there a writting section? It looks like from the interview feedback, there was a writting section last cycle, but is there one this year? also, can someone outline what they did and how thier interview day went? I have an interview next week, and would appreciate all the advice/help I can get. Thanks in advance!!!🙂

I interviewed last year and there was no writing section...yay! You arrive, there was a short introduction, and then you're given a schedule. I was scheduled to interview immediately. After the interview, I went to a different room where there was a student panel for Q & A. This was very laid back and a good opportunity to find out about the school from a student's perspective. Last, there was an information session about the school which can last an hour, depending on how many questions are also being asked. So again, this was just my schedule, your schedule could be in a different orderl. Hope this helps. Good luck!

so i got the e-mail for the invitation to interview last week and confirmed friday that i would go. i think they said that they would send me another e-mail confirming the time, but i never got one.

to the people who also confirmed for the interviews jan.6- after you confirmed, did you get a confirmation e-mail?

You won't get your confirmation email till around 2-3 weeks prior to the interview date. I already spoke to Abbie Usina about this since I scheduled my interview for Jan 14, and won't be receiving mine until around the beginning of January. So don't be worried....

Hmm....I took the PCAT in October and have yet to hear back from UNC since being complete. Has anyone else with an Oct. PCAT received an interview yet?

Same scenario. Took PCAT in October, submitted PharmCAS mid September and supplemental- mid October. Got confirmation of submission and that's it. I guess they are interviewing people who have submitted their stuff earlier in the year and took PCAT in August or earlier. At least I hope that's the reason!

I got my email to interview yesterday for UNC and have been calling today to make an appointment for interviewing. Do they have slots or do you just have to be able to come on one of the interview dates?

cows, when i called about my interview, she gave me two times to choose from and asked if i could make one of those. its not free reign.

Hey, For those who interviewed this past week at campbell, I wonder if we'll hear back as soon as the first two groups that got interviews??,.....what do ya'll think?....I know they told us many times that we'll probably wont hear back until 4-6 weeks or even longer for other reasons....please up date if anyone hears anything 🙂

i really want to get into UNC!!

I don't think that's reason. I got an email yesterday for an interview and I'm going Jan. 6th. I took the PCAT in October, submitted PharmCAS on Nov. 1st (a day before the deadline), and submitted the supplemental stuff late October. They might be reviewing applications randomly, so don't worry. I'm sure you'll hear back from UNC soon. 🙂

I sure hope they're doing it randomly because I sent my in mid october and haven't heard back yet 🙁

Does anyone know if Campbell's class is full? Are they done interviewing? Thanks!

Have they even started interviewing? All of my materials were received in mid-August and I have only gotten an email once they received everything and it said to allow them until May 2010 to contact students. But other than that email, I have heard NOTHING from Campbell.

they have definitely started interviewing. my friend received an interview invitation from them back in december and i think several people here on sdn have gone to interviews there already but, i havent heard anything from them either.

anyone know when the jan. 6 interviewees should expect to hear back?

has anyone received an interview invitation for after january 6th yet?! or does carolina accept people from the previous interview session before they send out more invites?

I interviewed on December 2, and I received an acceptance e-mail on the December 16. A lot of people still have not heard from the school, so I have no idea what is going on. Good luck though!

I interviewed on Dec 2 and haven't heard anything yet.
From what I gathered, they don't have a set deadline (like 3 weeks after the interview) - they have "cycles." Pretty much, their first cycle (dec) was like the top 30. the next cycle (i would guess sometime this month) would be the next 30. And so on. Something like that.

I interviewed at Campbell yesterday and already got a call today saying I was accepted! That was fast! Good luck to everyone else

Good job buddy. I was actually one of the student interviewers lol

Haha wow...Now I'm wondering if you were the guy I interviewed with considering there were only two or three males total!?! They said I would hear back in 4-6 weeks, how did they decide so fast? One last question, I read somewhere on the site that laptops are supplied free of charge, is that true? Thanks

Naw I don't think so buddy, I had only one guy and he wasn't into any sports (assuming you play hockey irl). I also got the call the next morning...the staff is great and they'll let people know as soon as they make the decision. You should be getting the official letter soon.

Yes you get a free laptop (well, it probably comes out of your tuition!).

Hope you choose Campbell if you get accepted anywhere else. Its a great school. Pledge KY when you get here.

I have a question about Campbell (I'm really sorry if this has already been covered). I was wondering about the Religion and Physical Education requirement. I saw this on Campbell's school page for PharmCas when I was adding schools, and I wasn't exactly sure what kind of courses they're looking for. I know I can email the school, but I figured I would get a faster response here.

As far as Religion, I took World Religion honors my freshman year in undergrad. It covered Hinduism, Buddism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in that order. Do you know if that is sufficient? The only other religion class I've taken was at my Catholic middle school. LOL

The school said they would waive the PE requirement if you were an athlete or in the military. I've been a competitive cheerleader and dancer throughout college so I was wondering if that would even be considered since cheer isn't exactly an NCAA sport like football or soccer. I've also taken Nutrition during undergrad so that is sort of related.

I know the deadline is approaching so I'm not even sure about my chances, but I just want to know if I even have a shot as far as the pre-reqs go.

Thanks!

Tinkerbell,
They do not have the religion requirement, so do not worry about it.
Not sure about the cheerleading, but you will be better off e-mailing them and asking that question directly to people who know what's going on. We can only speculate on the topic here.

Tinkerbell, lemme know what you find out about the religion requirement. I should have asked interview day but that was the last thing ony mind. I was also under the assumption that a religion class was required. Months ago when I spoke to admissions they said something about being able to complete the religion during p1 year. Also, last time I checked a religion prereq was listed on pharmcas... I should be straight with the pe credit from college hockey though. Thanks

http://www.pharmcas.org/collegesschools/schoolcampbellpage.htm

This one shows religion listed, then followed by:
Other clarifying information: Religion & PE are both required pre-requisites and cannot be waived for any applicant with the exception of the following: If an applicant is an athlete or military you will not be required to complete the PE requirement.

Looks like the two sites show opposing info...Will have to clarify it with someone in admissions

Pharmcas is not always up to date 🙂 I spoke to the person from admissions, and she confirmed there was no longer a religion course req. It's the first year though they took it off (in fact, that happened in the middle of the cycle). So you decide for yourself, bud 😉

PharmOl is right, I heard they took of the religion requirement. Contact the school yourself if you wanna be extra safe.

Well thats good news then. I wasn't looking forward to taking some extraneous religion class, so I'm glad to hear that. Thanks for checking.

Lol, tell me about it! I'd have to take it on-line since there is no chance I'd stay awake in class.

wooooo!! got my acceptance letter from UNC at 12:32PM today! SO thrilled!

Congrats!! I received an acceptance at the same time!!! definitely made my day! =)
