for those of you who are preparing to take your DATs/taken your DATs, did you find that the cliffs ap bio book is enough to prepare you for the biology section? or did you have to refer to campbell's? i've only had one introductory biology class in college and i am worried that i will need the textbook to prepare for the test....
Hmm...there is no one single source that can prepare you for bio. That is just asking for a 17 on the section (of course there are exceptions).
FWIW, I know the ap bio book really well. If you ONLY knew that book and took the DAT I took...might get you a 18 or 19. BUT for those questions that seperate the men from boys...no way in hell. The same goes for kaplan.
To increase your chance of breaking a 20 on the section, you really gotta use multiple sources. There is no way around it.
Use one comprehensive source as your base. That way, when you go onto other material, you can easily skip the sections/topics covered in your base source.
What do you use as your base? People's opinions vary, but I went w/ Destroyer for my basic source of bio knowledge. I'm not a big fan of kaplan. I supplemented w/ ap bio (good for classification, evolution, plants, ecology), achiever, and appropriate textbook readings (very very important).
Hope that helps. Good luck!
