can anyone tell me about studying phamacy in US

hi friends....
i am a student of 3rd year B.pharm in india,i have given my GRE exam and i got 1010 in that and also preparing for the TOEFL,i have heard that in US i will not get admission directly in masters of pharmacy so i am planning to get admission in MS,then i will plan to give naplex....
can i have information if i can apply for Naplex after completion of my MS?Is there any other option to go further in pharmacy field in US, in particular NJ,NY,Chicago...
plz reply as soon as possible...

Hi.
In the U.S. the degree for a pharmacist is not an M.S., it's a PharmD (doctor of pharmacy). There is no such thing as a master's in pharmacy.

First you have to complete your prerequisites for pharmacy school (I'm sure you can do that in India). Just look at the pharmacy schools and see what they require. Different schools require different classes. Then you take the PCAT (pharmacy college admissions test) and apply. Pharmacy school is typically a 4-year program after you've completed prerequisites.

If you want to study in NJ and NY and don't want to go into a 6-year program (but rather into a traditional 4-year program, which is better in your case), here are some schools that I know of in the area:

SUNY at Buffalo
Albany College of Pharmacy (limited spots into the first year of pharmacy school, since they usually accept people right out of high school for its 6-year program)
Rutgers (limited spots for 4 years as well)
Temple (it's in Philadelphia, close enough to where you want to study)
Jefferson (also in Philadelphia)

I'm sure there are many other ones.

The ones that I noted that have limited spots are typically 6-year programs (2 years to complete prerequisites + 4 years for pharmacy school, without having to reapply), but they still reserve a few spaces to ccept people into the first year of the actual pharmacy program.
