Can FTD get RESIDENCY w/o US Experience?

Hi there,
I am a Indian dentist looking forward to take my Part 1 in Feb 2010 and appear for my Part 2 in May 2010.
Am looking to apply for a residency program for 2011. My Biggest Confusion is that '' Do the Residency Program accepts FTD with good part 1 score + part 2 score, without any US experiance?'' How I can improve my possibilities?


My GPA 3.7
working at dentist since 2yrs in India.

I see you wern't comforted by our replies in the other thread.
Nothing is impossible, but some things are difficult.
according to me, getting into a residency - again, a residency costs less than MS, some like OMFS even pay you a stipend - withour US work ex or degree is gonna be really tough.

what kinda work ex doya have in India?
what field are you looking for residency?

So I searched abt Residency and some of my friends told me abt it. I am doing GP here in India. What MS ur talking abt? Can you please tell me where I can find related inforamtion and req?

no one can afford the DDS from there pocket.. doya have a relative there who can co-sign a loan for you.
I really recommend that you read all the posts in the international forum.

Yes, its possible...which speciality you would like?
If its OMS, then its almost impossible...
After completing any ADA accrediated >2 yrs residency you can practice in 7-8 states without DDS/DMD...

Perio and Prostho are comparatively easy, but again you must have higher part 1 score to become competitive around 90 plus and other strong factors like any US fellowship, externship, Research or teaching exp, bcaz u r competing with US DDS/DMD with lots of other strong factors on their CVs...

Search on SDN Dental residency and International Dental forums, you will find lots of informations...

Unless and until you have strong research, or US exp.(GPR/AEGD) Ortho, endo, OMS very very difficult...almost next to immposible without DDS/DMD...
see my above post...Perio/Prostho comparatively easy...again I would advise you to search thoroughly on SDN in International Dental and Residency threads...you will find lots of information...Plz take some time to search...
