Here is my story. I am a CC transfer to UCLA. Completed my 1st semester of Organic Chemistry, a lecture+lab course before transferring. UCLA uses quarter system; there are 3 quarters of Organic Chemistry Lecture and 2 quarters of LAB. Based on UCLA system, I completed 2 quarters of Lecture and 1 quarter of LAB. I want to take the other portion of Organic Chemistry at a CC during Fall 2011 after graduating UCLA this summer. So I will be in the application process while taking Organic Chemistry II with lab. During Summer I am going to take Biochemistry. Do you think that these may affect my chances? Should I wait for another year before applying?

Tacos here. Margaritas in the 2015 thread. We need to make this thing happen, So Cal'ers!

Tacos in this thread, margaritas in the other thread, gotta make my mind up, which thread can I take?

How did I miss a convo on burritos?

Screw you guys. I'm going to del taco. Get a garbage burrito -- with all the garbage on it.

Ah, I remember when I could eat whole macho burritos like it was nothin. Felt like a real man.

If you ever find yourself in the greater LA area, I would be honored to take you out for some tacos. Lengua, of course.

I'll look you up next time I am. That is, if you're not somewhere else by this fall.

answer to your question is you were probably picking your nose and watching TV!

I have a very similar question and I don't want to start an entire new thread that will just take up space. I'm using my AP credit for Gen Chem, and so I will take Biochemistry + Lab (or a similar upper level course) to fill the general chemistry + lab requirement. Is it okay for me to take this senior year, assuming I apply the summer after my junior year?

I only ask because I'm worried medical schools won't like not seeing a "general chemistry" or equivalent grade. My main reason for not taking it this upcoming fall semester is because I play to take the MCAT in January, and I want to have time to study for it.

I see many applicants who use AP chem and go right into 0-chem as freshmen. Taking o-chem as a freshman is usually a bad idea (I see too many applicants who have their a55es handed to them) but using AP to cover gen chem is OK and taking pre-reqs during the application year is OK, too.

Yea senior year for biochem is fine. There is a section of the primary where you fill in courses you plan to take in the future, so they will know that you're going to take it.

Back to tacos. I was wondering how this thread got so many replies. Wish we had a del taco here ... all we have is Qdoba and Moes. Qdoba chips and queso is to die for though.

Google and see if you can find a Pancheros anywhere near you. Of the shops like Qdoba/Chipotle etc. they are the best.

A small set of the schools I would like to apply to require one to two semesters of college Math/Calc. As a post bacc non-trad, it would be to my advantage if I can apply to these schools listing an intention to take the math pre-rec, and then take the course only if I get an acceptance. Anyone have any experience or insight on this?

My thanks to everyone and for this forum!

Programs don't care when you take prereqs, as long as you complete them prior to matriculating. No need to state the intention; it's implied in your spending the money to apply to the school that you intend to complete the prereqs prior to matriculating if they offer you an acceptance.

You could try this, but you might have to start the math course before you get a med school acceptance. The latest you could theoretically put it off is until January, and you may not have an acceptance by that time. Some med schools start in July so you wouldn't want to count on cramming the math course into the summer before starting med school.

I wondered how such a simple question could lead to a two-dozen post thread, but then I realized burritos were involved.
