I had to accept a scholarship (due to deadline) at my #2 pick school. I then got a better offer from my #1 pick. I've not yet received any money from the first school and the only thing I signed was a confirmation that I understood my scholarship could be lost through poor academic performance.

Can I go back and get out of my agreement with my #2 pick? I can't imagine what they could do at this point ....

Edit: For clarity, all I'm asking is if there is any consequence for having officially accepting a scholarship and then rejecting it after the fact. Obviously I won't get the scholarship. But I'm not legally bound to anything else, right?

I'm not sure if I am understanding everything. It seems simple though. If you are not going to attend the school, then by default, you are no longer eligible for any scholarship at that school.

yeah, i could've worded that better. I mean, other than not getting the scholarship, there couldn't be any repercussions for having officially accepted the scholarship and then reneging, right?

No, there shouldn't be, especially if you haven't received any funds yet. That will just open up the door for someone else to have it. Just politely and officially let the school and whoever is awarding the scholarship know that you are declining their offers.

I'm confused, are you just declining a scholarship or an offer of admissions that you officially accepted. If it's the latter, isn't that burning bridges with the school?
