Hey! I am going to be a junior this year...back in 2002 I had NO IDEA what I wanted to do in life, so I took a Chemical Engineering class...I finished it, but failed, and my instructor thought it would look better to have a UW instead of an E(or F). Four years later now, I am really regretting that UW. I currently have a science GPA of 3.3, and have done very good in school since getting some direction. Has anyone out there got in with a UW? Any thoughts are great!!

I never even heard of a UW.

Can you describe the difference between a "UW" and a typical "W" (or "withdrawal")?

You can take the UW, but to AADSAS it counts the same as an F.

Obviously it won't strengthen your application, but just to make you feel better. I have 2 whole academic semesters of (unofficial withdrawals) except mine are denoted with an F! Now, don't you feel bettter? 🙂

It will go to your "other science" GPA. While not ideal, they will usually look through the individual grades if you point it out or if your calculated GPA is low. It also indicates how many P/F classes you took as well as withdrawals. Most people have at least one withdrawal at some point. In your case, this will affect your AADSAS GPAs. If your overall GPAs and DAT are strong I'd say you've got nothing to worry about. 3.3 with an AADSAS calculated F equivalent isn't too bad.

I was under the impression that "W" dont get calculated into your AADSAS GPA...??
