...using my MCAT score and then take the DAT later on and apply to dental school?

Or will the dental schools somehow know i took the MCAT (and that this was likely why i got into the SMP) and look down upon this?

My situation: I can apply now to Temple's Advanced Science Program, UMDNJ's BioMed, and other school's program's. My GPA is low, so if i get into these programs, it will likely be because of my MCAT.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Next question: How would they look upon this?

And yes, i have and am in the process of searching the internet and this forum for people who have been in my situation. And so far, ive only found two threads where someone has taken both the MCAT and DAT ...and there was no mention of what happened to these students when they finally applied to dental or med school.

SMP as defined nicely by a member of this forum with the sn "Ehhh" from this thread --> (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=399735) :

3) Special Masters Program - These are generally 1 year masters that are great as GPA boosters and some are even targeted at people looking to boost credential in order to get in to professional school (dental in our case). Also many of these require a DAT score to enter. The draw-back to these is they maybe a little pricey. Below are a few I know of and more can found at the aamc and syr.edu website above

...now many of these are geared toward medical students and most of the students in the programs are pre-med, but ive searched and seen that most of these SMP programs have had some pre-dental students.

A lot of predental students were once premed and have taken the MCAT. There's no way for a school to know that you took the MCAT unless they specifically ask you, and most schools don't. However, if you do a master's degree that requires the MCAT, your school will obviously know you took it. I don't know whether or not they would care, but I doubt it, personally, and I don't think they would ask for your MCAT scores.

That said, maybe you can call the master's programs you're interested in and ask them if they would accept DAT scores instead of MCAT scores so you don't have to deal with the issue.
