I just decided that I wanted to apply to primary care programs at some of the programs where I have already submitted categorical applications. I have some questions about this:
a) How exactly does this work? (I already submitted my apps a while back) Do I simpy go back into myERAS and click on the "primary care" box in all the of the programs where I already have the categorical box checked? Will the programs receive some sort of notification that I have now added the primary care option? Does this affect how/when my application will be reviewed by the programs?
b) Also, does look bad and make programs think I really don't know what I want to do with my career? If it helps, I have a strong public heatlh interest and am very interested an ID fellowship, but the primary care programs also appeal to me because of the strong exposure to public health.
c) Are the primary care programs at any given institution considered less competitive than their categorical counterparts? I'm not particularly concerned about fellowship placement, as I've been told that ID is not that competitive but I was wondering about competitiveness from the perspective of the match.

Any input appreciated...thanks!
