There are two important extracurricular activities that I believe will significantly boost my application for med school. I will apply on May and start a new research and a volunteer work at a homeless shelter on June that will last for 12 weeks. Can I put already planned out extracurricular activities on my AAMC application?

The start date can't be in the future, but you can put it if you're just getting started and most of the work is in the future. I wouldn't hedge my bets on something that hasn't happened yet, though.

Are you taking a gap year? Most medical schools ask you what you're doing for your gap year. You can enter information about that activity there.

If not, you can probably put the start date right before you submit and project the hours. Make sure to note that in the description that they are projected and not completed hours. However, be aware that these hours will be taken with a grain of salt.

Future hours are essentially an IOU without any requirement to follow through. In fact, most people do not, or are too optimistic in their expectation. They mean almost nothing, and in your case, will not provide a boost to your application. Hours are important to some extent, but what matters more is what you took away from the experience and how it will impact both your and future colleagues' practices. You will have neither of these at the time of application. Just my thoughts
