Hey everyone. I was wondering if schools have a problem with sending more than 3 reference letters? I have the 2 science, 1 non-science letter of reference, but I'd also like to send some additional letters of reference.

Do schools limit the amount of letters you can send them?

I sent in the 3 faculty (2 science) as part of a composite letter from the premed committee, a letter from a physician, and a letter from my volunteer EMS agency.

Hi OSUdoc08. I have two LOR's from two MD's that I want to send in. I was just worried they'd throw out any additional letter's of reference that I would send. I know TMDSAS will only forward a maximum of 3 LOR's to their schools 🙁

There is an easy way to solve this. Do what I did, and have your MD's send the letters directly to the schools.

Some schools accept up to 5. And really I'm sure the schools that request 3 will be fine with a fourth letter. they can just throw it away if they want to, but in the end it benefits the school to have another opinion.

Not necessarily, depends on how good they are.

should i ask my college basketball coach to write a letter for me? she knows me better than anyone other adult at my university and i am pretty sure she could write a very strong rec for me. i know this is more of a 'personal' and not professional letter, but do you think that is okay?
