Calculus I: A
Expository Writing: B
Chemistry: C
Biology: B

This is my first semester grades at Rutgers University. I am VERY MUCH interested in doing dentistry but after obtaining grades like these i am unsure if i can still get into a dental school.

For my second semester though, I plan on making quite a few changes to my studying cycle.

Definitely. People with a couple of "C"s get accepted to dental school all the time. Make sure you don't end up getting anymore "C"s, and pull up as many as "A"s possible, with some "B"s here and there.

definitely..dont let these people pull you down

Haha, regmata is joking. It just becomes tiresome to see people continuously posting concerns over 3.0 first semesters. Half the people in this forum f*cked up first semester and are in/ have been accepted to dental school. So to answer the OP, you are FINE. I'm not trying to offend the original poster because I know they are just looking for honest advice; but that is why people respond sarcastically.
For example, I had a 2.85 my first year (C+ core bio).

persistency and consistency my friend you will come across some bumps in the road....keep going it will all be worth it in the end 🙂

Many of us on here just like you. My first 35 credits or so I had a 2.93. My last 75+ credits I have earned a 3.94. Anything is possible, just make sure to get alot of A's in the upcoming semester and you will be fine.

Your first semester isn't what I'd classify as "poor". Throw some more C's and maybe a D into the mix, and then we are talking "poor".

While getting a "C" isn't ideal, it isn't terrible. I think a good amount of us had that "we-are-just-getting-out-of-high-school-and-still-suffering-from-extreme-senioritis" phase, and our first quarters/semesters weren't too great. It's only your first semester and it happens, and luckily, you have a good amount of time to change things around if you'd like.
