Can I submit my application applying to one school initially?

I applied at UWO (Canada) only this year as it accepts students after second year and interviewed there. I am waiting for the result like others which will be coming at the end of June. As I interviewed at only one place and its very competitive after second year so I want to apply for the next year cycle at US schools. I am sending my application on 1st of June. Now my question is if I just apply to one school paying 195$ and submit my application so that AADSAS can confirm my transcripts and receive my LORs (both of which take max time) and then wait for UWO result and if not admitted then apply to rest of the schools, what can be the consequences? I think once AADSAS has confirmed my transcripts and LORs and has organized everything it should be ready to be sent to any school quickly or will it take another 4-8 weeks when I will add rest of the schools. I dont want to waste my money if I get selected at UWO but at the same time I dont want to decrease my chances for next year waiting for the result. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

so you are applying for 2010 entry into US dental schools in case you dont get into UWO for 2009?
AADSAS charges you a flat rate letting you pick 5 schools to apply to, then starts charging you for each additional school that you add. so you may as well apply to 5 at the beginning because you will be paying for it, and it will take the exact same amount of time for AADSAS to collect all your info to send to one school as it will to send to five.

You are thinking of the DAT, which has a flat rate for 5 schools then you pay for additional schools.

For AADSAS the initial rate is for one school (which is 210 something this year), and then another rate for each additional school (60 something this year).

And to answer your question, you can apply to one school and then later apply to other schools. Last year I applied to 1 school in June and then 4 schools in September (NOT recommended to wait until September).

its best to take advantage of the 5 free schools they let you apply to. apply as early as possible and your chances of getting into ds is much greater.
