Can I submit secondaries to schools that need a DO letter while awaiting a DO letter?

Short version: After shadowing a DO they agreed to write me a LOR, which now opens up my school options!

Should I submit primary and secondary to DO letter requiring schools now? Or will my secondary be not complete until this DO letter is received (and thus it doesn't matter)?

Yes go ahead for most schools, but many won't consider your app complete until you get such. Look at the websites and make sure they don't say not to submit (doubtful any do), but many say things like DO rec required before interview, acceptance, or some prior to admission. Once you get it then email the school and let them know asap. Good luck

You should always seek to get as much done as you can as soon as you can. If you are going to apply to a school, don't wait around for anything. Start the process. Especially if what you are waiting on is a letter.

Most schools won't consider your application complete until everything is in, but I know for a fact that some schools will go ahead and interview a promising candidate while awaiting a letter of rec. They know that people can be slow about those things.

And if you are sitting on a 3.8/35, as long as the rest of your app is reasonable, I see no reason why you won't get some love from the schools you listed above.

Perhaps another better question, have you checked to make sure that all those schools will accept your old MCAT? 35 is impressive, but many may not take it. I'm assuming that at this late date MD school apps haven't given you any love.

Yeah I've been checking and contacting schools when I am unsure. So far everyone on my current list is OK with it, and I'll check before I submit to DO LOR schools.

MD Cycle: 1 II not yet done, 2 rejects. 20 schools total, complete early to mid august.

Then get those DO apps in asap.. you are still for DO on time given your stats, assuming no major red flags and you're strong otherwise. Just make sure all T's are crossed and i's dotted, as things can get busy with the holidays and a mistake can mean your app languishes until well after the new year.

Yes, get it done tomorrow as long as the schools don't say they must have rec before secondary (I know only one I applied to wanted such but don't remember which) and they accept your MCAT.

Check out the AACOM MCIB (google it...) info book for requirements.

Even if some say no on ur mcat you can email them and sometimes they will make exceptions. But if you don't ask for an exception someone in sorting may auto eliminate your app because of an older mcat.
