I just finished a lengthy personal statement and uploaded to PharmCAS but the school I plan to attend wants another essay which my personal essay basically answers all the question that is required so can I just send them the same personal statement? Thanks.

LOL. If you end up doing that, please come back to this thread and let us know if you got accepted.

I hope that indirectly answers your question. But seriously... 🤣

John,

I ran into that problem too so I held back portions of my personal statement to use on the supplementals. It's a tough choice but you need to plan ahead. Rxsocal is right - it would be like application suicide if you repeated your essays! Stupid is as stupid does... Just kidding, I couldn't resist. Actually you're smart for asking the question before you did it - now rework your statement and you'll be good to go.

rxsocal
where did you get accepted to?
your signature said accepted under midwestern but your interview date isn't until 10/2.

where it so cal are you? im in oc! 🙂

not really. USC asks you to upload your personal statement so that was what I did. It didn't ask for specific answers or had any prompts.

just so you're aware, "a Statement of Purpose [personal statement] under Part One of the application is NOT required for Pharm.D." for usc.

I uploaded it anyway, just to make things more complicated....no I uploaded it because they usually want to see everything ...transcripts, cv, gpa, all that upfront. So I just uploaded my personal statement.

does this make me look bad to the school??

is this grounds for "immediate rejection" for not "following instructions"?

i remember reading that it's not required way back on the checklist but at the actual page, it didn't mention anything so I thought, "well to be on the safe side...better have it than not..wouldn't hurt"

have you received your lack letter and checklist report yet? if it says that your application is already completed, then you should be fine. seeing how part one is sent to graduate admissions, then it probably shouldn't matter as the school of pharmacy is the one that actually reviews the file from pharmcas and your part 2 supplemental responses.

My university is not a PharmCAS but I do have many friends in administration who work for PharmCAS pharmacy schools and doing that would brand you as lazy.

I know for sure that I would brand you as lazy and that doesn't look good when the committee evaluates you.

Hi AdmissionsMan. It's nice that you've taken time off to help in the virtual world.
I've just noticed that contrary to ur signature at the bottom, you just gave away a huge piece of information about your school "not participating in PharmCAS"
given a majority of schools do, that doesn't leave many left.

Majority of pharmacy schools use PharmCAS? I don't think so.

is this guy serious....

if you have ever used PharmCAS, you'll notice that only some schools show up as a school that will accept an application from PharmCAS. most schools have a specific application that you have to fill out according to what they want to know from the applicant.

I thought over 2/3 of the pharmacy schools in US use PharmCAS.
