i am using interfolio to send my letters to AMCAS. if i send my letters from interfolio to AMCAS, will my letter writers still be able to retract their letter in the event of a mistake they made? or even in the event of them no longer wanting to write for me?

i am just wondering because i want to disclose this information to my writers so that they know what can and can't do.

thanks!

You'd probably have to send the updated letter. Secondary to the original letter packet.

I doubt you could take anything back, but how would you even know if there was a mistake anyways?

letter writer tells me they made a mistake and wants to change it.

I am fairly sure you can't delete a letter once it is on AMCAS. You can delete an AMCAS entry that has been created for the letter, but if AMCAS receives the letter anyway, they will send it. https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/faqs/148168/amcas_2010_faqs-17.15.html

Likewise, if you have to change a letter it will not replace the old one, it'll just be added on to the previous one. I had to do this during my cycle.

I don't think a letter writer could retract a letter once it had been sent to AMCAS, but I guess if they REALLY wanted to they could send a second letter saying "nevermind, after I submitted the letter this guy turned out to be a total ass" or whatever, which would be amended to the first.
