Can medical schools Google info about applicants by their AMCAS login name?

Not that I have anything super incriminating, but I've used the same AMCAS login name for just about everything for the past 8 years. I'm starting to regret this decision.

...I guess as long as you AMCAS ID isn't your full legal name, what would it matter?

they won't waste their time doing that. MAYBE if there's something very "off" about the person from interviews or something, your interviewer or an adcom MIGHT google your name or look you up on FB, but i'm sure that rarely happens. i have only looked up two of my interviewees...one because i got a bad vibe, and one because we did similar research and i wanted to read his publications.

There are some administrators that look for applicants' profiles on Facebook; just change your privacy settings and you will be okay.

An interviewer who has a lot of free time on their hands might consider googling/facebooking you if something piqued their interest/curiosity, but the adcoms usually have much better things to do. Unless someone tips them off about something, they have no time/reason to look.

I was at an interview recently and one of the other interviewees there mentioned that his interviewer had looked him up on facebook before the interview. Asked him about some pictures he had up there so it definitely happens, but probably not very often.

The minute after I created my AMCAS account (to buy the MSAR online), I realized using the same log in name I used on here was probably a bad idea. Most likely will end up making a new one when it comes time for applications.
