Can my hospital pharm volunteer job turn into a job job?

I'm about to start volunteering in a nearby hospital pharmacy. Is there chance this would turn into a real job as like a pharm tech or seomthing?

Yes.

I used to volunteer at the hospital where I work at now.

So how do you do that? Do you just call up the hospital and say, "I want to volunteer in your pharmacy"? I am slightly intimidated by that. 🙁

Hello Jemc2000,

I had the same problem several months ago. Check the hospital's website first if they have one. Usually they'll list volunteer opportunities and the volunteer coordinator's contact information.

The Red Cross sets up the volunteer work at our hospital. I'm not sure if that is the case elsewhere as well....?

I got my inpatient pharmacy volunteer experience by calling up hospital volunteer coordinators around town and asking if they place volunteers in the inpatient pharmacy.

Hey Everyone-

I walked into two hospitals and asked where the volunteer office is. One met with me right away and told me they don't have volunteer positions in the pharmacy. THe other one, I had to set up an appointment and the volunteer coordinator signed me up right away after meeting with me. I'm still in the process of getting my physical and blood work and should start sometime around the beginning of next semester. She told me they'll probably want me to work about 12 hours a week. Good luck!
