The patient they spotlight is indeed 83. The statistics cited cover far more than that number.Come on man, the lady they're spotlighting was 83. There is no such thing as a routine surgery, especially not at that age. Also, I'm not seeing that the data they show graphically is statistically significant
I'm aware of the association between volume and quality, but I question which one is the driving force. I'm not sold on the idea that volume increases quality. I think it is the other way around.Common sense will tell you that the more you do a procedure, the better your results will be, whether it's a total joint, a CABG, or a C-Section.
