Can someone confirm if my neurobio class had a reasonable curve?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The weirdest "curve" I ever came across was quantitative analysis class. Exam averages were all between 30-35% and the average was "curved" to a C. Professor just loved putting way too much on his exams, nice guy though.

People say community colleges are a joke, but my chemistry class had a harder curve than this with about a 60% drop rate by the W date. Your school is sweet.

It honestly has nothing to do with the curve...... I could have a 1% spread as opposed to the 10% that is normal (I.e. <95 =F) and it would have literally no bearing on how hard the class is. Also community college is a joke

Hello everyone. I just received my grade for my neurobio class, a B, and I'm honestly really surprised. I thought the class was difficult and I was doing allright because of the amount of time I put in, but apparently this was not the case. I wanted to see what you guys and girls think about this curve? THe class has three exams and a final. One of the regular exams can be dropped. Class size is 200.

Test 1 average: 76.2%
Test 2 average: 65.4%
Test 3 average: 66.2%
Final Exam average: 74.5%

- Each exam is equally weighted
- One of the first three exams are dropped

Grade cut-offs:
A: >90
A-: 89-90
B+: 87-89
B: 80.5-87
B-: 77.5-80.5
C+: 75-77.5
C: 50-75
D: 42-50
F: <42

I had a test average of 82% after the dropped exam
What do you think about this curve? Is it justified?
You had a test dropped? I would say THAT is enough of a curve and an 82% in most classes is a B-, so you got a pretty good curve.

C is a pretty standard class average for science classes.

This.

The only thing I saw that was "curved" was to have the people who got below a 70 getting a C.

Don't most schools use:
90+ = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
60-69 = D
<59 = F

If you got an 82, it seems like your grade didn't really get curved, since no matter what it's a solid B. This seems more like a "helping the bottom" type of thing out, and people above the 75 mark get what they earn.

LOL think whatever you want. I'm actually there. Half my classes are graduates from the UC campuses and the local state and private universities. Some people even have engineering and computer science degrees. Having been at both a 4-year in a UC campus and a CC, I know there's very little difference.

So you are currently in CC and half of your classmates are graduates from 4 years who have moved up to CC?

And I dont think you understood my last post. Grade ranges on the curve do not indicate how difficult a class is. I could have a shoe tying class where 100=A 99%=B and so on. Tight tight curve. But not a difficult class
