We are currently entering transcripts into the application that were received on 05.27.09. Please Note: Submission of the application will begin on or about June 2, 2009. Medical schools will begin receiving applications on June 24, 2009.

What is the difference between the submission and receiving dates? Basically, is there a point to submitting an application before june 24?

Submission date is the date you can submit your AMCAS application. Your entered course grades will then need to be verified against your official transcripts you mailed in. The receiving dates for medical school is the first date that medical schools can get your submitted and verified AMCAS application

Yes, the advantage to submitting before June 24 is that you are in line sooner to get verified granted you have all your official transcripts in. It takes time to verify your transcripts, and the later you wait, the more backlogged they get, and the longer it takes to hand verify all your grades. With rolling admissions, the sooner you apply (apply meaning completing your secondaries- no point in finishing primaries early and just sitting on secondaries), the greater the opportunities you have

Absolutely it matters - during those 3 weeks after June 2, they will be verifying your app, and giving you a chance to clear up any problems or confusion with your app like missing transcripts...the earlier you submit in June, the better your chances of having your completed app sent out to med schools in the June 24 batch...
