How to explain gap year plans?

Hi, apologies if this Is a stupid question, but I don’t really understand how we communicate to schools what we are doing in our gap year if the activity doesn’t start till after our primary submission? Is it just all discussed in secondaries? Thank you

You can list it as a future activity in AMCAS. It may be appropriate for some secondaries. It may also come up in interviews.

if you submit a primary that is competitive without further additions then this isn't much of a concern. I get the sense that some people submit half-baked apps and assume they can fill in the holes later through updates. That is not a sound strategy.

Also, future activities sometimes fall through. Every cycle there are applicants seeking advice because they listed something on AMCAS that did not come to fruition.
