can someone please answer....

I've heard good things about the program. Of course this is hearsay from resident friends who had just finished the program. You'll get good exposure to cases. The good (or bad) thing about the program is that it's at a private hospital so it's not that academically stellar. In medicine, making money dictates all. If you need to turn over the room faster, learning and down time will be minimal. This is sometimes true especially with a private hospital. My friends thinks it's a good program and the city is a killer city to live in.

thanks for the reply...how is the teaching/didactics there? are residents prepared for the boards? getting fellowships?

thanks.

I think Oschner prepares them adequately for the boards. I don't think it's a program that "holds your hand" for boards preparation. Like most programs you need to put in the time to get what you need to know for the boards. In regards to fellowship, the head chair is suppose to be well known. My friend was able to interview at the top two regional programs in the country.
