So I am about 3 weeks away from my Step 2 CK. I haven't touched any NBMEs or USWAs yet but I am currently on my second go around of UWorld (1st run 55-60s, 2nd run 70s through 20 blocks of timed, random). I doing 1.5-2.5 blocks a day, and reading a chapter of MTB 2 at night, and trying to squeeze in some Secrets in there as well. This is all I am able to complete in about 10-12 hours of studying.

Problem is, I am not feeling confident on my prep. I was originally planning on doing DIT, but I realized it takes like 6 hours a day to do, which is exhausting and takes away from me being able to complete the UWorld blocks, I would have to compromise and only do 1 block a night, and probably no MTB at all, and maybe Secrets in the last week.

Here are the options:
Stay the current course: 2 blocks of UWorld (I have 50% of the bank remaining) reviewing each question right/wrong and making notes. Then reading a chapter of MTB 2, and trying to read Secrets (usually doesn't happen). With this plan, I will finish UWorld about a week from my test date, and I will have a week to review the notes made from UWorld, do my incorrects on UWorld, read weak sections in MTB2 and hopefully read all Secrets.

OR

Start DIT/SUT2tomorrow, it will take me about 6 hours a day to complete it in 15 days, but I would be doing this 'active learning' and would have the peace of mind of having seen everything once. Then do 1 block of UWorld at night, MAYBE throw in an extra half a block, and probably call it a night. I would finish DIT about a week before my test date giving me a week to go over weak sections in SUT2/DIT, read whatever notes I made in UWorld up till that point, read all of Secrets in that week, and I would have about 20-25% of my second run of UWorld remaining which I would do my best to complete in the last week, BUT probably no time for doing my Incorrects on Uworld and pretty minimal time to review my notes via Uworld.

I apologize for the long post, but if any of you guys that have been throw this can share anything ideas/anecdotes/comments, I would appreciate it.

Lastly, Happy July 4!

I've made my aversion to SU2S2 clear in the past, so personally I'd go with the first option. I'd say don't focus on Secrets (maybe keep that for the last week as a quick review) and try to really focus on the UWorld blocks and MTB.

I'd also recommend doing one of the NBMEs or UWSA, because those really give you a good guideline.

I'd start by taking NBME 2 and see where you are at with your current prep. See where/which subjects you are weak in then take it from there. UWORLD and MTB is the current recommended resources so I think you will probably be fine. Seeing a decent score will definitely increase your confidence.

I guess I'll muster up the courage and take NBME 2, I just hate how you have to spend 4 hours for a score and then you don't even get to go over the exam.

Any other NBMEs you guys recommend taking? I was going to keep UWSA for about a week out of the exam.

After taking an NBME, does it give you a subject breakdown?

Yes, if you pay them $60 for the extended feedback vs the regular $50 and nothing but your score.

Is the subject breakdown Medicine vs. Peds vs. Surgery vs. Psych vs OB?

Do they also breakdown individual fields like Cardiology, GI, Heme/Onc, Respiratory?

Thanks!

If you are only going to do one NBME and the UWSA I would say make it NBME 4 and the UWSA. NBME 4 gives you extended feedback and is the most recent of them (I know 6 came out but that is just NBME 1 with interactive media).

Good luck

Do any of the NBME forms give you the answers to the questions? I feel like with only a few days before the test feedback based on subject area is not going to be helpful for me. Pretty sure UWSA gives you actual answers, can anyone verify that?
