Tentatively thinking about dental school, but I only have a few science pre-reqs under my belt, my undergrad degree is in something entirely unrelated. Do I need to complete something like a pre-health post-bacc to get some more pre-reqs? I've noticed that some schools don't seem to require for instance a year of biology, chemistry, at least that's what they indicate on their website, but it may be understood and I'm just out of the loop?

Thanks!

You don't have to have a science degree but you have to fulfill all of the science pre-reqs. So yes, a post-bacc would be the best move I think. Most schools have the same course requirements although some will differ. For example, a few schools now require a year of anatomy & physiology but most of them don't

The vast majority of dental schools require pre-health pre-reqs. These typically consist of 1 year of bio, gen chem, physics, and organic chemistry. Many also require biochem, calc, and/or phys. In order to succeed on the DAT and have a successful application cycle, you absolutely should complete these baseline pre-reqs.

You can complete these via a formal post-bacc program or a DIY postbacc by enrolling in your local 4 year university and taking only the classes you need.

Ive known a lot of friends who went into dental, medical, PA school, etc with a non science major! You just need to complete the pre-reqs, and you can have something unique to talk about in your personal statement

Everyone above me gave correct answers, but would just like to add that you may not necessarily have to finish all prereqs by the time you apply (depends on the school you're looking to apply to).

But, you have to finish all prereqs before you plan on matriculating into dental school.
