Hey everybody!

I'll be asking professors for letters next year but I just wanted some advice about something. I went to small college for 2 years and transferred to a much larger university to continue my last 2 years. I wanted to ask one of my professors at this old school for a letter because I believe he knows me quite well and would write me a great letter. Would it be rude to ask over email? The school is about an hour away, and my school offers free shuttles there throughout the day. I would more than likely have to skip class to meet with him if I were to ask in person.

What are your thoughts? Is it worth skipping classes for it? Am I just overthinking this? He knows I go to this school, but I wasn't sure if it'd be rude to assume it's too far away to meet in person.

Thanks guys!!
Email is fine especially if you are confident the professor knows you well.
