Can you be a surgical tech with misdemeanors? How would the certification and licensing work? 😕

Moving to the Clinician Forum...

Unless there is someone in the Surgery forum who used to be a surg tech (and I don't know of any), we wouldn't be the best people to answer your question as we don't know the requirements for training a surg tech, let alone licensing. Best to ask those in the Clinicians forum who have actually done the training rather than surgical residents, fellows and attendings.

Surg Techs are only licensed in a few places so that wouldn't be a huge issue. The issue is going to be the background check that any hospital does these days. Its going to depend on the misdemeanor type, the state and the hospital. The cert application doesn't ask about misdemeanors for what its worth. You might try contacting AST.
