Can you choose a different school after submitting downpayment and paperwork

I recently submitted my down payment and forms to one of the programs I was accepted at. Can I choose another school if I end up getting accepted somewhere else? I had to submit all of this because they gave me a deadline before all the other schools decisions. I am asking out of curiosity in-case I get accepted to the school that is right near my home rather than one far away.

Most schools have a non refundable deposit policy so you may well just be out that money. Others make their deposit non-refundable past a certain date. Check with the school you've been accepted to.
