Hello I am a pre-med student. This is my very first post! I love this website! it is not new to me, its just the first time I have registered. Anyways I was wondering if someone can evaluate this for me? I worked very hard on this presentation and I wanted to know what people thought of it before I give this presentation in front of students? this is an attachment F.Y.I

I am looking for constructive criticism please lol

edit: I could not submit the presentation as a power point.. So i merely copy/pasted it onto a .doc the ppt has neat pics and such and looks much more sophisticated. This ppt is split into 20 slides on the ppt

Thanks

GOING TO COLLEGE BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PARTY AND GET HAMMERED EVERY NIGHT ARE THE WRONG REASONS TO ATTEND COLLEGE. NOT ONLY WILL YOU BE SPENDING AN INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY, YOU WILL ALSO MOST LIKELY BE UNHAPPY.

I disagree. Thats what I did in college and I was extremely happy. Continuing it in medical school has taken some more time-management, but its still very do-able and I remain extremely happy.

O And:

Lol yeah I guess you are right. Partying does make people happy!! Did you think I looked like an idiot with that presentation or overall is it good?

And thanks for the welcoming!!

Agh, you actually want a real reply. Alright, I took a break from neuro for this. Here are my humble opinions:

Rule 1: I assume you're talking to high schoolers or something. The average mentality of a younger crowd is to resist forward progress. They're quite happy playing video games and talking to their significant other who they will love "forever and ever." You need to motivate instead of listing off who should not go to college. Many people who go to college do not really know why or have a set goal in mind, yet the vast majority of them will benefit from whatever degree they acquire. Going to college because it is the "normal" thing to do is quite OK.

Rule 2: This needs to be exchanged with rule 11. For example, try and swing a cat in the freshman dorms without hitting a pre-med. Most college freshman have a goal in mind, but it is drastically different than the goal they will end up with. A huge benefit can come not from sticking with a track, but rather maintaining a great GPA so that when you do decide what you want to do with your life, you won't have any doors closed due to your gpa.

Think of a guy who likes english his freshman year, gets a great GPA, and decides he wants to go to medical school during his junior year. Instead of "Why did I slack off my freshman year, now I have to get a masters degree to raise my GPA" he can say "Yay, I have a 3.7. Now, whats this MCAT thing?"

Rule 13: Drop: " YES IT IS TRUE THAT THERE ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO NEVER ATTENDED COLLEGE, BUT HOW MANY?" It sounds horribly arrogant and there are quite a lot of successful people who did not attend college. Before you disagree, ask yourself if other people have views of what "success" is.

Everything else is pretty solid. Go get'um tiger.

I went to college to party. u mad?

Hey thanks for the input!! Lol not to sound dumb but when you say switch 2 with 11 you mean flip them right? And yes now that I think about it, that sounds very ignorant of me.
