I am enrolling at LECOM for sure but this $1500 deposit is killing me. It is going to drain our account so if the car breaks or something, we're SOL. Is there any way to make payments or something? We'll be okay once the tax return comes but that's a couple months away...

I'm lucky that my first deposit was only $250, but I totally felt your pain when I had to fly around the country for interviews from Alaska. Can you put the deposit on your credit card? That's what I ended up doing for all my flights/hotels and am working my arse off to pay it off...but am almost there. Have you called the school to ask?

Best thing to do is talk to the school. It would be rather Scroogish of them during the holiday season to insist that you pauper yourself to pay their deposit.

I had to put 2k on my credit card for my WVSOM deposit, as well as all of my application and interview expenses, UGH 🙁 Oh well, it will be worth it in the end but boy are we strapped right now.:scared:

I would definitely contact the school and talk to them about the situation. I would hope that they would be understanding. I was fortunate enough that my parents gave me the money. I can certainly understand where you all are coming from because I would have never been able to come up with the money for my deposit. I had enough difficulty coming up with the cash to even apply in the first place and then trying to send in the supplemental fees. WOW! I never realized that this would be such an expensive process. Good luck with everything!😀 :luck:

Yeah, I would definitely contact the school, but I just have a feeling they will not be very flexible on this. I just took the plunge and paid mine for LECOM-Erie. It's hard to do, but I definitely had a sense of relief knowing I had my seat secured. Cute kid. Happy New Years!!!

I'm no financial expert, but can you get a loan from a bank for 2K. I'm thinking since it is for medical school, the bank should grant you the loan, plus its not much money for banks. Then just pay back the loan to the bank in monthly installements. If you can do this, the good thing will be when you need to borrow from private loans for medical school, they will see you have paid back on your loans before, therefore, your interest rate will be lower. Something tells me more than 50% of what I said is wrong.

I'm in the same situation...my deposit to lecom is due the 10th of Jan. I have to pay it because its my only acceptance so far, but I'm still hoping for others. I have the 1500 but I had to take out the credit on my account I had to my last semester of college. I don't have any credit cards yet (I'm afraid of what I would do if I had one) but I'm definately considering getting one. If you have one I think that would be your best bet, I doubt lecom would let you pay in installments...but it's worth a try.
