Ok, so I'm in a rush to get my Commonwealth Medical College application complete. One of my recommenders sent a LOR directly to Penn State. Now, I want that letter to use for the Commonwealth app. I'm on "Continue to Review" status at Penn State. Would it be ok to have my advisor call and request a copy of that LOR?

Penn State legally couldn't release that letter even if they wanted to.

Why don't you just have your letter writer send a copy of the letter to your advisor?

Ok, thanks.
I tried to contact the recommender, but its been a week and no response still. 🙁

How will Penn State know the caller isn't some random mischievous stranger? It would be unethical for them to release anything without your written consent. Many admissions process guidelines I've seen say that anything you submit becomes the school's personal property, so they wouldn't be obliged to release anything, even if you asked personally. It would be better to ask the recommender to send a second copy to the other school.
