chronically ill people, did schools ask for verification from a medical provider?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When you apply, you will be asked to endorse a statement regarding your ability to meet the school's technical standards (Here's one example) If, for example, your chronic illness affects your ability to work long hours, impairs your judgment, or impairs your motor or sensory functions then you might not meet the technical standards.

What I have heard from some is to steer clear of anything that might be along those lines, BUT there is great information from The Short Coat Podcast re: disability/chronic illness in medicine. Basically what they say there are that some schools will think negatively, some won't, and you probably don't want to go to a school that would judge you negatively for your illness anyway.

I would not say that schools will think negatively of an applicant (as a person) with a disability but may recall, from recent experience, that students in similar circumstances have been unsuccessful at that school due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. It could be that the school, given its resources and limited ability to think creatively and compassionately, would not be a good fit and you've gotten lucky to get turned away.
