Hello, I'm applying to US medical schools (as well as Canadian and one Carribean- St. Georges).

Science GPA: 3.68
Non-science GPA: 3.94
MCAT: 37

Studying biomedical science at the University of Guelph.

Have not written the MCAT yet (writing it in August), but my average is a 37 on practice AMCAS tests (highest 40, lowest 36).

I have about 2,000 volunteering hours, research experience for two years, I am vice president of the pre-med club at my university, and I have very extensive extracurriculars/ volunteering (too long to list, but you get the idea). I also have no problem with interview/ interpersonal skills so please focus on my list according to my GPA, MCAT, and the fact that I'm Canadian.

Can someone please look over my list of schools and see if I should add any or if any should be removed (i.e. there is a slim chance I will get in, they don't accept Canadians, etc)?

Eastern Virginia Medical School

George Washington University Sch of Med & Hlth Sci

Georgetown University School of Medicine

Keck Sch. of Med.University of Southern California

Michigan State University

Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine

SUNY Upstate Medical University

Temple University School of Medicine

Uni. of North Dakota Sch. of Med. & Hlth. Sci.

Wayne State University School of Medicine

Please let me know if you think any changes should be made! I would like to apply to "safety schools" as well because I'm very scared I won't get into the US because I am Canadian.

Also I have a long and impressive list of EC, but I have not shadowed an MD (I might this summer), will that greatly impact my application?

Thank you!

Unless you have strong ties to ND you have no chance at UND

Why are you applying to the above schools in bold? Don't bother with the Cali schools. And any state-funded schools will probably not accept you because you're not only out of state, but also out of country.

Your stats are great. Assuming above average ECs and you write (silly Canadians) your MCAT and get that 37 you'll be fine. August however, is not ideal to be submitting an app, but if you need to apply this cycle and are willing to spend the hours and effort, then by all means.

I'd expand your school list. Double it, at the very least. Add a few more low-tier and mid-tier schools, and maybe even a few top tier schools. I've seen someone with lower stats from Canada (McGill) get into Columbia because he rocked his interview.

As of now, your app entirely depends on your MCAT score. The amount of money spend on another ten schools is nothing compared to the pain and frustration of not being accepted in an application cycle.
