Hi, i was just wondering what the average stats for a Canadian matriculant to a US MD or DO school is. I am just worried b/c my cGPA is 3.5 and with an MCAT of 30 with 10s throughout, i highly doubt i will get into a Canadian medical school. Since i don't have any stellar ECs, just typical premed stuff, what is my chance to get into a US MD or DO school? Is it easy to come back and practice in Canada if I am accepted to either type of medical school?

Good shot at USDO if you apply early when AACOMAS opens up

Likely no shot at USMD, you would need a higher MCAT and more extra curricular.

Here's the data about the GPA and MCAT for the average Canadian applicant and matriculant in a US MD school.
According to these tables for 2012-2013:
Average matriculant GPA: 3.74
Average matriculant MCAT total: 33.7Q

I'd say your GPA and MCAT are both low for the US MD schools.

Okay, thanks for the replies! Does anyone know about the the licensing and practicing policies regarding Canadians who have been trained as DOs in the States and want to return to Canada?

And also, is it a must that you must obtain a letter of reference from a DO when applying to a DO school? Or is any physician fine, if any?
