on the osce exam its my understanding that you lose points for every wrong answer. are there any strategies for this portion of the exam. is it better to not pick an answer choice if ur not 100 percent sure its right. some tell me that on avg you end up picking about two or three correct answers per question, is this true.'? thanks in adavance any ideas on how to tackle the osce would be appreciated.

100% sure, you mark it, otherwise ignore it. There are enough easy questions for every decent student to pass. After the exam I remember everyone complained and felt like ****, so I guess the curve was generous too.

Say you have 8 options after a particular question. The values can be similar to this:

A) +0.4
B) -1
C) +0.2
D) 0
E) -1
F) -1
G) +0.4
H) -1

If you pick any of B, E, F, or H you will get the minimum score of 0. Based on this you should only mark the options you're 100% sure about, don't go greedy; ending up with 0.6 is better than a 0.

Also there will be many questions with (select the ONLY answer) which makes it easier, but you gotta make sure you read every question.

Thankyou so much. Thats what i had figured but was uncertained of.

How did you guys prepare for this exam? Are there practice questions somewhere? I'm currently at school in connecticut and I am taking the NDEB in boston. I'm so lost as to what materials I should be using.

Help!

Thanks 🙂
