Hi everyone,

I'm a Canadian Student who will be writing the Canadian November 2010 DAT. I know that this is VERY late, but I would like to try and apply this year to at least a few schools to see if I need to do a masters. I'm looking at the following schools:

NYU
Temple
Tufts
Boston
Virginia
USC
Case Western
Detroit Mercy
Creighton
Louisville
Michigan
Maryland
Minnesota

I need help cutting these down to schools that have (1) lower gpa requirements and (2) accept students later on in the cycle.

Thanks so much!

you will have zero chance of getting anything with Nov 6 DAT score. A friend of mine and myself tried that last year and neither of us heard anything and his DAT score was about 23.

Your score will not be ready till sometime in middle of Dec which then, it will take almost till mid Jan till your schools get your score.

why not try writing the American DAT in your city ?

My friend applied to NYU about a week before applications closed last cycle and was accepted. So it is possible. His application was complete at the end of Janurary I believe. He is a permanent resident of Toronto.

What was your friend's DAT, sGPA, OGPA ?

His sGPA and oGPA on AADSAS was about 4.00 in each category. His DAT wasnt anything special. He wrote the Canadian DAT and I believe these were his scores.

TS: 21 or 20
RC: 18
AA: 20
PAT:25
Carving:17

BTW he ended up getting accepted off of the waitlist to U of T

ofcourse a guy with a 4.0 GPA and TS: 21 AA: 20 and PAT: 25 will get into NYU in end of Januery but how many applicants really have that stats .

If I was a betting man, I would see our friend here does not have a 4.0 GPA and hence it is waste of his money to wait for his Nov DAT and ...

The best thing for him would be an American DAT ASAP.

apply next year. save yourself some money. trust me on this one

I agree... very slim chance and not worth applying if using Nov cDAT. If op can hit 23+ AA and 3.7+ gpa... may be... for a few private schools.

you know what? It all depends on you. Sometimes you just gatta ignore what other people say and do what you think is right.

My girlfriend applied to med schools last last year sometime in late october. As you may know, med schools in US are also based on rolling admission. At the end, she was interviewed and accepted.

Her stats weren't outstanding compared to other columbia med enrollees. Other people told her not to apply and said it was waste of money sending in application so late.

The 1 year she saved potentially represents many lives of people she could reach out to as well as who-knows-how-much-money-doctors-make-per-year amount of money.

If you think 1k is worth the risk, then do it. The way I see it, if you are gonna get in, it doesn't matter when you apply. You will get in if you deserve to get in.
