I just finished my second year of undergrad in an Ontario university.

I have an MCAT score of 35 (I'm up for taking it again) and a 3.9/4.0 GPA. Also have some volunteering (for a couple of years) and research (3 terms worth) experience.

In any case, I'm looking to apply after three/four years to an American school. (I don't think very many American schools exist that accept students with only a three year degree though).

1. I'm just curious whether my stats are competitive for a Canadian applying to a US schools? As well, are there any success stories from people that were in a similar position?

2. In terms of type of applicant, what do Canadian applicants fall under? Out-of-state?

3. What about tuition? For the majority, is it the same as out-of-state?

4. Should ivy-league schools even be considered?

5. I didn't go to the University of Toronto or McGill University, will American schools look down on me? I often hear that American med school adcoms consider other Ontario schools as community colleges in comparison (i.e. McMaster University, University of Waterloo).

6. Any other info would be appreciated. 🙂

I applied to several American schools and got accepted at Albany with the same MCAT, similar ECs and lower grades.

I declined the acceptance (got accepted in Canada) so I am no expert but I believe that because it is a private school everyone pays the same price. However because I was not an american I was not eligible for funding.

During my inerview I was told the fact I went to McGill really help as it was a high ranked school so you may be on to something.

As for the rest I am sure there are others that know far more then I do.
