I've been watching the threads for a while now and thought I'd go ahead and post

I'm just finishing up my 3rd year at University of Western Ontario (Top Canadian University) and will be writing my MCAT. Looking to apply broadly to american schools this upcoming year. My GPA first year was a 3.30, 2nd year closer to 3.7 and this year I'm looking to finish up with a 3.9. I'm doing my BMSc (competitive, limited enrollment program at UWO) with my honors spec in Physiology and will be doing a research project with these 4th year. Ecs including volunteer for the last 8 months in a pathology lab and a medical clinic, volunteering for about 2 years at a children's museum science demonstration and tutoring at boys and girls club as well as employment with the university as a off campus advisor the last year.

Thoughts? Where should I be focusing my application towards?

Thanks!🙂

Bka DOC, I guess my first question is: are you a canadian or american permanent resident/citizen. If you're canadian, you must apply to the states as an international students. In other words, you will be placed in a small, highly competitive pool of applicants and will not be viewed as a URM. If you're an american, only a handful of CDN schools accept non-residents. In other words, apply to schools in your home country.

Why not apply broadly? Unless you have a certain focus like wanting to go to a research powerhouse or a school that focuses on primary care or on underserved communities.

There is a very good handful of schools that do not consider canadian students/citizens as internationals. I'm just wondering if they still consider them to be URM (I'm black so considered a URM in almost all regions)
