So it seems like in Ontario, once you're in med school you are pretty much 'set'. Sure, they throw a lot of things at you but everything is manageable and it is almost impossible to fail...at least here in Ontario.

I am curious to see what it is like outside the province and also in the US. If some people can relate to their own experience compared to their friends/colleagues/stories, share your thoughts please. 🙂

Things are like that in the US too... you have to really not do anything to get kicked out. Never heard of anyone who actually applied themselves 100% not passed academically. All schools go above and beyond to at least get everyone up to a "passing" level if the person will put in the effort.

teaching style may differ from university to university but wouldn't both Canadian and American med schools ultimately have to cover the same material to keep their LCME accreditation?

I doubt that there's any significant difference between Canadian and US programs.

edit: but i guess minor differences may arise due to the fact that canadians do mccqe vs the usmle. but i'd still bet mccqe is much closer to usmle than comlex.

Eh no, there was a student in my friend's med school class (in Ont) who failed. But I agree, you have to try really hard to fail - once you're in failing out means one less doc graduating, so they do their best to help you pass. Remedial rotations, tutoring, counseling etc.

Then again if you keep failing your MCCQE exam for example there's only so much anyone can do.
