Hi everyone!
I was wondering if someone could tell me how optometry works in the states? I am from Canada and I'm worried that they may ask me questions about optometry in the US that I am unfamiliar with.
I know, here in Ontario, anyone between the ages of 20-64 are not covered by the the government. In other words, a typical eye examination will cost the patient ~$80.
Also, in Canada, I believe that no optometrist is allowed to perform laser eye surgery.. however, some states in US are allowed to.
Ontario, very soon, will be allowing optometrists to prescribe therapeutic agents such as antibiotics, allergy drops. It is currently not practiced.
If anyone can give me any information, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
