Canadians Hoping to Return - Read!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The ministry of health has broken several promises lately. Furthermore, the physician shortage is steadily being resolved. Soon there will be a physician oversupply. There's no way to accomadate even 25% of IMGs in/from Ontario.

Your posts are quite negative but you fail to quote any sources JP. I have seen little action that will or has steadily been resolving the doctor shortage in Canada. If anything, it's only been getting worst in my areas. Most experts seem to believe it will only get worse ( quick google search source, comprehensive 2008 study, comprehensive 2009 study).

Regardless, it doesn't hurt to try and it requires little to no work on your part. Why be so discouraging? We understand it will be difficult but at least some of us are willing to do something about it.

Those interested, feel free to go to the provided link and feel free to email us. The BC group has had quite a bit of success in getting the attention of the provincial government there and I have also been able to make some headway here. The thing is, we need numbers to really be powerful.

Edit: more sources, Maclean's article on worsening shortage 2008, youtube video campaigning against the shortage 2009, documentary on doctor shortage in canada 2009... all of this within 5 minutes of simple googling. There are plenty more articles, videos, blogs, sound bytes... it's not getting better.

I dont mean to be so negative. Im basing this on my experience, and reality. I get frusterated seeing canadians not get into med school, take loans to go oversees, and then not be able to come back. Check the match rate for IMGs

Australia though still offers a way of life that most North Americans can only dream about, you work more in North America, have more stress and pressure, while Australians still have a high standard of living, but work less and have more leisure. In fact most Aussies I know love to talk about all the nice places around the world that they have visited while North Americans love to talk about their work.

lol I've been saying that for years Janikey, but it's nice to see your change in attitude. What brought this on?

Seeing how screwed up America is these days, and finding out that my high school girlfriend is homeless, that is what brought it on that America is going down the tubes in my eyes. Also seeing that Obama or should I say Obummer is not bringing any real change to America, its same old crap in America. The unemployment rate in the town where I grew up is about 20 percent. Oh yeah and that girlfriend has decided she is going to migrate to guess where? Oz. I told her about what life is like there and she could not believe it, I now appreciate what I have in life, and how damn lucky I am to be in Australia.

*claps*

well said

as for JP's comment, obviously we know about the low match rate.
That's the whole point of this group! To bring that rate up...
