If a person is diagnosed with malignant melanoma, what reasons would there be to postpone treatment for 6 months?
Lets say it's stage 1 or even 0.

What kind of treatment? Watchful waiting after surgery to remove the lesion? If the lesion hasn't spread, and is totally removed by the biopsy, watchful waiting may be the only thing needed.

Yes, after the malignancy is excised, you should wait and observe for metastasis from the primary tumor.

Chemo and radiation (after surgery to remove the tumor) have shown no benefit in patient survival rates, so it is usually best to just wait and observe.
