SB B/BC answer key says C is correct because lipoic acid levels are decreased, affecting acetyl-CoA formation. I'll buy that. However, wouldn't A also be true, because C75 decreases mitochondria potential, so it would affect ATP formation. You need ATP to go from F6P to F1,6bP, no? When you get two choices like these, how does MCAT expect us to pick the right one?

It's a matter of direct effect vs. indirect, less likely effect. I'm not sure what the data looks like, but ATP synthesis probably wouldn't come to a complete halt - otherwise C75 wouldn't be a good drug at all.

Answer C directly describes the PDComplex and lowering lipoic acid will affect the whole complex... pretty much what aldol16 said, but just a bit more detail in case you weren't familiar/forgot PDC.
