My MCAT got cancelled on test day and got rescheduled for 2 weeks later (now it's Aug 16th). I am honestly so drained at this very moment. I can not focus, can't think straight, no motivation. I was averaging 33 on AAMC FL's leading up to my original test date. My motivation has dropped since. I feel stupider and less prepared by the day. I could not have been more prepared on my original test date and now I'm ****ting bricks if i'll be even as nearly prepared Aug 16th as I was for the Aug 3rd exam. Should I take a couple days off? Do u think my scores will drop a lot by writing Aug 16th as opposed to the original date of August 3rd? I feel like i'm going to walk into this exam just wanting to get the **** out. My goodness. Sorry to vent but I (sadly) don't have anyone to relate to in real life

Take today and tomorrow off, and don't even think about the MCAT. Do something mindless and completely unrelated to med school. Avoid SDN. If you feel re-energized Saturday, start studying again. If not, wait until Sunday.

No, I don't think the delay will hurt your scores. You know the material well -- it's not all crammed into your short term memory. Right now you're just burned out, but you'll be back in fighting shape after a few days off, especially as the test day gets closer.

In 8 days it'll all be over!

First of all take a deep breath haha,

That is a crappy situation, no doubt about that. However, things aren't always going to go to plan in life or your medical career. You may have unexpected things come up during residency or your subsequent medical career that you need to handle at a time that may not be most convenient. I'm sure not every procedure you are going to perform is going to be scheduled perfectly and you will have to adapt (not a great example, but you get the point). Anyway, if you're looking for motivation to keep you going I would look it at like just another challenge that will make you even stronger when the challenges come up in medical school, residency, & beyond... because I'm sure they will.

Also, personally I don't believe your scores will drop dramatically if you take a few days to relax and reset your focus.

Anyway I would try any possible mental gymnastics to flip this situation into a motivating one, but that's just me.

Keep pushing!

YOU CAN DO IT!

Take a short break, try to refresh, and begin again tomorrow or the next day =)

Best of luck!!

Dude take a break. Take at least 2 days I would suggest. I felt just like that last week and took 4 days off completely, just played video games and drank with my roommates. Hit it up again the Monday after and felt great. Better to lose a few days of practice and take the exam with a clear mind than be burned out man. Especially on Verbal. My scores SUFFER when I'm not in the right head space. Good luck man !

If you look at my post history, I had this exact problem since my license was expired.

I went from a 25th of July date to in two hours (going through SDN for inspiration). Anyway, I'd recommend taking a few days off. Immediately after my missed date, I just stopped working for that weekend so that I'd come back refreshed.

I had this same problem the past few days

What helped me was to make some statements of motivation

Like pull up a word document and try to go back to to the basics of why you are doing what you are doing

the point is to regain that exuberance you had on day 1 of mcat studying
