The Chinese American Physicians Society is offering scholarship(s) of $2000 to $5000 each annually to students in United States medical schools. CAPS Scholarships are open to all medical students in need of financial aid regardless of their hometown, sex, race or color. The applicants are judged according to their academic achievements, financial needs, community service records and essays. Special credit is also given to those who are willing to serve Chinese communities after graduation. The deadline for submitting completed applications is usually in October.
Applications are being accepted from students who will be in medical school this fall. Deadline for applying will be October 31, 2005. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by email before the end of November 2005.
Due to the huge number of requests for applications and our shortage of manpower, we can no longer send out the application by mail unless a self-addressed stamped envelope is enclosed with the request sent to Lawrence Ng, M.D., Vice Chair, Award Committee, Chinese American Physicians Society, 345 Ninth St., Suite 204, Oakland, CA 94607-4206. Applications should be available at the student financial aid office of your medical school starting from June 1 each year.
